In 2021, there were no fewer than 1,650,000 French people living abroad. A dream shared by many who wish to experience it at least once in their lives.
Discovering another country during a vacation of a few days or a few weeks is no longer quite the same thing when it comes to putting down your suitcases permanently in a place you don't know.
Before taking the plunge, the question that must be answered first is: where to go and live ?
Because the deep desire to change one's life should not, however, put aside all the organization that this decision entails.
Moving abroad is easier today than it was just a few years ago.
Portugal? Morocco? Brazil? Bali? Your new life perspective probably lies in one of these countries, yes, but which one? We'll tell you a little more.
Going to live in another country, what a strange idea!
- Change your life
Need to see or experience something else, and traveling abroad seems to be the best solution to no longer have to endure a life that you won't regret.
Who hasn't considered flying to an unknown destination without a return ticket? On a whim, a decision taken lightly in our lives where everything seems well-ordered, too well-ordered in fact...
Occupy your mind with everyday things to forget that time passes quickly and that we ourselves are probably missing out on the essentials.
Go and live in another country to leave this race for “always more” and be able to breathe, learn, develop, become, do and above all be rather than have.
- Opening up to new opportunities
Whether you lack a professional network, are in low demand for qualifications, or face too much competition in your sector, choosing to live abroad is an excellent way to advance your career.
What was quite complicated yesterday is no longer so today with the globalization of the job market. A French diploma retains significant value when selling itself to companies around the world. While the number of years of experience has an impact on a candidate's attractiveness, the lack of qualified labor in certain countries can be an opportunity not to be missed.
- Discover the world
Expatriation is also an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and discover previously untapped personal abilities and give yourself the chance to meet others in a setting completely different from your usual daily life. A new language, a new culture and a new environment to explore, meet people and experience.
Going to live abroad, which country to choose?
When planning an expatriate move abroad , there are several things to consider before even thinking about packing your travel bag. The first? Determining the best country to live the lifestyle you desire!
The economic factor : A good country to live in is one whose economic situation allows you to last several weeks or even months with your savings. The exchange rate is therefore an element to check before embarking on the organization of your expatriation. If you decide to land on English soil, you risk seeing your purchasing power considerably reduced due to a pound sterling stronger than the euro. The same applies to those wishing to go to Bahrain or Kuwait, which are respectively the two most powerful currencies in the world.
The healthcare system : Your quality of life there will also depend on your ability to care for yourself. Immigrating brings about a change in the healthcare system for French people living abroad. While some insurance policies provide coverage for life's accidents, what's also important is the ability to find facilities locally that can provide quality medical care. Health is one of the criteria for choosing a country to live in for several years. Medications, major or minor surgeries, routine medical checkups... it's best to check this aspect before deciding where to settle!
Living environment : Whether you're a digital nomad, single, or an executive looking for a job with your whole family, immersing yourself in a new culture won't require the same approach. While a digital nomad will only need an internet connection and a small living space, an executive will need to find a dynamic city offering essential amenities (daycare, school, business district, etc.).

Bonjour,
Cordialement
